A Visit to the Oloo Farm in Kenya to Celebrate 10 Years of Journey 2050!

#DYK Journey 2050 is celebrating our 10-year anniversary in 2024? What better way to celebrate than to catch up with one of our farm families!

Earlier this year, Megan White, Journey 2050 Coordinator at the Calgary Stampede, had the opportunity to visit the Oloo (pronounced OH – loh) family farm in Kenya as an extension of a trip she was taking to support Veterinarians Without Borders.

“It was like I was in Journey 2050!” shares Megan. “Joseph and his family were so welcoming. I was able to tour the farm, have great conversations and share a meal with them throughout the day. It was a surreal experience.”

As part of Megan’s visit, she was able to sit down with Joseph and talk about what has happened on the farm over the last decade, and his future plans.

We are excited to share this interview with students and teachers around the world who have been virtually farming with the Oloos for the past 10 years.

A huge thank you to the Calgary Stampede, African Plant Nutrition Institute and the Oloo family for making this incredible interview possible.
